Our expertise

In the Argon lab at RSES we focus on temperature-controlled step-heating diffusion experiments. These detailed experiments allow the Arrhenius analysis with specific calculation of diffusion parameters and activation energies for specific domains within a crystal. Modelling can be undertaken from these calculations, essential for many geological scenarios.
We also have the facilities to undertake reconnaissance step-heating experiments with our CO2 laser. These experiments can be done as stand alone experiments as or a guide prior to the longer more detailed diffusion experiments using the high-tech double furnace set up.
